Description

What problem does using a warp calculator solve?

Avoiding project failures due to:

  • Not being able to warp the loom because there are not enough heddles on the loom
  • Not being able to weave the project because you are using a loom too small for the project
  • Not having enough yarn to complete the project
  • Fabric does not feel or look right for its intended use – either too loose, or too stiff
  • Quality materials can be expensive, it is important not to waste them.

Traditional warp calculators can be intimidating.

New weavers often feel “there is too much math” and become afraid they might make a mistake.

Using a digital warp calculator helps take the risk out of the project planning process. All major weaving math formulas and important reference tables are stored in this warp calculator as a ready reference when needed.

Avoid losing money when you price your work for sale.

Weavers who begin to offer their work for sale often do not know how to price their work and often sell a prices lower than they should. Regularly doing this will cause their new business plan to fail.

Using a warp calculator with built in pricing will help you establish fair market prices for your work improving your odds of making a living doing what you love – weaving.

Use either the Metric or English system of measurements to design your warp. Prices are computed in USD Dollars, use your favorite exchange conversion of prices to obtain pricing is various currencies.

There are Two requirements for fully using this product:

You must be able to run Microsoft Excel, and you must be able to run a macro. Not running the macro will require the user to find the sley order in the reed manually by using the chart in the spreadsheet. All other calculations are automatic based on user input.

There are three files in the download, A metric and an inches version of the warp calculation spreadsheet which I have saved as a template to remind you to always use a copy of it to avoid damaging the original. The third file is a user manual PDF document stepping you through a simple example warp calculation so that you can be come familiar with the worksheet.

The Excel spreadsheet file contains three tabs,  “Simple Warp” – an elegant simple warp calculator, handling warps that have up to two types of threads, Overhead Calculator Tab – a worksheet  to help weavers figure out their Overhead costs, and Warp Calculator tab – a full featured warp calculator that handles all kinds of details for complex warp building, from sampling, multiple setts, sectional beaming, waste and shrinkage.

You are able to make changes to the spreadsheet as needed to fit your particular warp calculation needs.

Here are a few screen shots from the calculator to help you envision what you are purchasing when you download this product.
